  7. Remove the (3) small black screws.
  8. Carefully open the radio, spliting the radio front and rear cases
  9. Looking down inside of the top left side of the radio (left of rotary
  10. encoder) , locate and ADD Solder to jumpers "0" and "1"
  11. (jumper "0" is the top jumper and jumper "1" is below it)
  12. Assemble radio.
  13. Press and hold [M/V] and [AR] keys while turning on the radio.
  14. Modification Complete

  24. Here is a Mod. for the "NEW" Yaesu VX-1R Ultra compact Dual Band HT.
  25.  
  26. I have not yet had time to see just exactly what this mod has changed.
  27. However, I know that the Tx is expanded on VHF, UHF and and AM AIRCRAFT bands.
  28. Rx is expanded to cover CELLULAR.

  30. Remove battery.

  32. Remove 3 screws on back side of radio.

  34. Open cover. "My experience was, slightly raise edge of cover that screws
  35. held down.

  37. With a very small screwdriver, release plactic clip that secures case on
  38. edge of cover just inside of battery compartment. Be very careful to not
  39. break this clip.

  41. Carefully remove back cover.

  43. Locate two sets of jumper pads in upper left side of battery compartment
  44. near the controll knob.

  46. 0 0 "Jumper pads"  Place solder across this set of pads.

  48. 0 0 "Jumper pads"  Place solder across this set of pads.

  51. After these jumpers have been made, reassemble radio.

  53. While holding down the "M/V" and "AR" keys turn on radio with the "Power"
  54. button.

  56. The display will read "INIQF"
  57.  
  58. Now push the "F/W" key.
  59.  
  60. The display will now read "INITIAL".
  61.  
  62. Modification is now complete.
